Mary Stewart Secretary-Treasurer, Founding Member of AOA Mary Stewart began her non-profit career in 1984 as the Project Manager of the Main Street Program (National Trust for Historic Preservation) and continued her leadership role in city revitalization as the Executive Director of the Whittier Uptown Association through 1996. Since her retirement, she developed the non-profit status of the World American Cultural Exchange, an organization bringing Chinese students to America and hosting delegations from China to the US and from the U.S to China. Mary co-founded Artists of America, a non-profit providing education for disadvantaged children and has now co-founded the Foundation for American Cultural Exchanges [FACE], a non-profit that specializes in education, cultural exchange and economic development programs. Mary’s sincere desire to meet the requirements and guidelines of the US State Department, Non-immigrant J-1 Visa application and the need to incorporate tangible, concrete guarantees that international students would return home after completing the US 2 year classroom instruction segment, Mary designed and implemented the 1-2-1 Dual Degree Program which is now being trademarked as the Double Degree Education Programs for FACE. The 100% success rate of international students returning home after participating in this program, along with the quality of student supervision provided by FACE, has won the endorsement and J-1 Visa application approvals in unprecedented numbers for our international students. Achievements in Sino-American cultural exchange were made possible through cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with Chinese government officials and successful businessman. No-Boundaries, a US band consisting of developmentally challenged members invited to China in 2006 to perform in Shanghai, Beijing and on the Great Wall of China in commemoration of China celebrating the achievements of their developmentally challenged. Mel Schoenberger, first American cartoonist to teach at Jilin Art and Cartoon College in Changchun, China during 2002. Apollo, world-renown artist, invited to several Chinese cities and universities to teach animation and to search for talent for use in upcoming feature/short films in 2007. Dr Larry "Cocoa" Welton, Motivational Speaker and Visionary, the first African American invited to speak at Guilin University, the Great Hall of the People and the State House in Beijing during 2002, 2003, 2006.
