ART EDUCATION (this includes music, dance, performing arts, the literary arts as well as painting and drawing and the visual arts) have been shown to improve grade in science, math, and English. (rand study 2004).

How can a child succeed in life (or even get through high school?) if they can't read? Learning to read is a building block of life, and an art in itself. Artists of America is proud to make available to schools Reading Teachers, and Reading Lessons, free of charge.

Children who take art classes show improved self esteem and problem solving skills, and knowing how to read is a not a luxury in life.

Our Goals:

To improve lives, one child at a time

To provide classes in the literary (including READING), visual and performing arts.
To improve problem solving skills in children.
To keep children involved and in school.

Funding for arts education in public schools is declining, especially in less-affluent communities, a new report from the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and the Arts Education Partnership, with support from the MetLife Foundation, finds.

Among other things, the report, Critical Evidence: How the Arts Benefit Student Achievement (24 pages, PDF), describes how the study of specific art forms can advance math and reading comprehension, contributes to cognitive and social skills, and increases overall learning.
